At the University of Havana, from the first years of the Revolution, when in Cuba we inherited total unawareness of Africa’s problems and history, an interest in learning about this continent and its major issues arose. In 2009, after more than 40 years of teaching and studying about Africa at the University of Havana, the Cátedra Interdisciplinaria de Estudios Africanos Amílcar Cabral was created. The coordination of interdisciplinary study and research on Africa is included among its objectives. May 25th, 2023 will mark the 60th anniversary of the creation of the African Union, a critical organization for the integration of that continent. Holding a workshop that allows the exchange of ideas and experiences among Cuban and foreign professors, researchers, and students dedicated to studying, teaching, and researching African matters will be of great scientific and academic value, considering that not many scientific events with Africa as their central theme are held in Cuba. The main objective of the workshop would be the presentation, analysis, and evaluation of some of the most relevant topics related to the African continent. The central theme of the workshop is regional and continental integration: challenges, limitations, and reach. Agenda 2063.
